Match Play Championships
Rules
and Format
-
All BGC Members must declare
their intention to play in the Match Play Championships by paying the
entry fee prior to October 15. Entry fee is $20.
-
Each
member entered into the Match Play Championships will be seeded according
to their finish in the previous Match Play Championships. Players
who have not participated in a Match Play Championship will be seeded
after those that have and will be randomly
placed on the bracket.
-
The
two players for each match are responsible for arranging a mutually-agreed
upon date and course to conduct their match.
-
For
each round, the match must be played within two months as follows:
-
Matches
must be played at a regulation 18 hole course and may not be played
during another sanctioned BGC event.
-
If the
players cannot agree to a course, the tournament coordinator shall choose
the course.
-
Each
match is an 18 hole net match play contest using the indexes from
the month in which the match was played. Index must be converted to
a course handicap.
-
The
match shall be played off the lowest handicap (i.e., if a 5 handicap is
playing a 10 handicap, the 10 handicap gets 5 strokes).
-
The
strokes shall be allocated to the highest handicap holes. (i.e., in
the example above the higher handicap gets one stroke for each of the 5
toughest holes)
-
If the
match remains a tie after 18 holes, the players shall first seek to
proceed back to the first tee to play additional holes in a sudden death
format. If that is not possible, the players shall play holes on the
putting green. A coin flip will decide who first gets to pick a spot
on the putting green and this honor shall alternate until one player wins
a hole.
-
Upon
completion of the match, the winner is responsible for reporting the score
to bgc@brogolfclub.com
within 24 hours of the match. The
report should include the result (e.g., 5 & 4, 2 & 1, etc.), the
course where the match was played, and a short summary.

The
prize money distribution is as follows:
